"Gladyatör" gibi epik sinemanın en önemli filmleinden birine imza atmış olan Ridley Scott, "Cennet'in Krallığı"nda, Hıristiyan dünyası ile İslam dünyası arasında yaklaşık 200 yıl süren Haçlı Savaşları'nı konu alıyor. Scott, tarihin en uzun süren din savaşlarını, genç bir Fransız köylüsünün hikâyesini merkeze alarak anlatıyor. Bu genç köylünün kaderi bir şövalye olmasıyla değişecek ve günden güne kahramanlaşarak başka insanların kaderlerini de değiştirecektir.

Fim, yönetmeninin yanı sıra, Orlando Bloom, Eva Green, Liam Neeson, Jeremy Irons ve Brendan Gleeson gibi isimlerden oluşan oyuncu kadrosuyla dikkat çekiyor. Ayrıca filmin müziklerine, "Vizontele" filmlerinin müziklerine imza atan Kardeş Türküler grubu da katkı yaptı.
